ticking

Just one minute.
That's all I want.
I ask for not one second more.
Just one minute-
of quiet,
of rest,
of calm.
Then I'll go.
I will.
I'll leave after just one minute.
Can't you afford me that?
Just one minute.
Just one more chance to look
and blink
and remember.
Then I'll go.

  1. So Granny was channelled as I read this, In shock and a basketcase, I asked the doctors if I could have one more minute to say goodbye. A no nonsense at times, yet deep down very loving family figure was being taken away from my family from me and to this day I still don't remember what she wore that day or if I kissed her cheek as I got out of the van when dropped off for work. That painful last minute still resonates in my subconcious from time to time. Nine years of Christmas's greatly missed

  2. The "Then I'll go" imagery is very powerful in this one.
